Left forces of Europe on the future of the European project

Abstract

In his article the author makes an attempt to analyze the campaigns of modernization of the European Union and European modernization by the leading pan-European left parties - the Party of European Socialists, the European Green Party, the European Left Party. The author also speaks about the essence of the European approaches of traditional Marxist-Leninist parties, the left-populist trend and the direction of left-wing separatism. He shows that, as in the past, European themes deeply split the modern leftist movement in the EU and that the common “European project” of the left forces of the European Union does not exist. In the article, primarily on the basis of an analysis of the political sources of leading left-wing political families, it is shown that practically all the trends of the modern leftist movement favour a more humane and social development of European integration. At the same time, fundamental and deep contradictions exist between the Social-Democracy, the radical left, the “green”, etc., on the political, socio-economic and foreign policy aspects of the building of the EU.
